The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights is warning of rising tensions in the Gaza Strip in the wake of seemingly politically motivated shootings, beatings and car fires. The center reports on three different incidents in which members of the PLO and the Fatah political party were subject to intimidation through violence or threat. The mildest of these incidents resulted in the destruction of the director of the Planning and Development Department at the Ministry of Interior in Gaza’s car and the worst involved the denotation of an explosive device at the entrance of the home of a Fatah attorney who sits on the committee responsible for elections in the Fatah movement.
